I’m Bonnie, wife, mom, and thanks to COVID, a doodle owner. I’m also a registered dietitian nutritionist and Certified LEAP Therapist, specializing in helping women with lipedema who are struggling with inflammation and weight loss.

My story starts way back when I was the chubby kid picked last in kickball (you know, the one whose shorts rode up and caused major chafing!). I battled with my weight for most of my life, even yo-yo dieting my way up to over 300 pounds. I was tired, miserable, and stuck in a cycle of self-loathing. But deep down, I knew I was destined for more.

With zero background in nutrition, I dove headfirst into research, determined to unlock the secrets to sustainable weight loss (without another fad diet in sight!). That’s when I knew I had to share my newfound knowledge and help other women break free from the struggle. So, I packed my bags, enrolled in classes, and became a registered dietitian! ‍

For over 7 years, I ran a successful small nutrition practice, helping women ditch the fad diets and finally take control of their health. Then, the pandemic hit. My practice went online, and I found my niche: empowering women with extra weight who were ready to ditch the B.S. and get real results.

But life, as it often does, threw me a curveball. I started gaining weight rapidly, and to my shock, was diagnosed with lipedema – a fat disorder once known as elephantiasis. Yep, after all my hard work and preaching about weight loss, my own body was betraying me. I feared losing everything I’d built.

Instead, this diagnosis became my unexpected superpower. Today, I sit on the Lipedema Education Group, helping update the Medical Standard of Care for the 11% of women living with this often-misunderstood condition. I’m also a fierce advocate, raising awareness and fighting for early detection.

And guess what? Nutrition has been my game-changer for managing lipedema. I’m thriving, both personally and professionally, all thanks to a diagnosis that could have crushed me.

So, that’s me! From the girl in size 26 jeans to the lipedema-warrior rocking a much healthier size (check out the pic for proof!). I’m here to share my story, my knowledge, and my unwavering belief that you can overcome anything, even when life throws you lemons (or in my case, a whole fruit basket!)
