Spring is the perfect time to refresh your meals with colorful, nutrient-packed ingredients that support your body. ⁣
This Butternut Squash & Kidney Bean Salad is a great transition meal! It’s light, flavorful, and full of protein, fiber, and anti-inflammatory nutrients to help manage lipedema. Plus, it tastes amazing! 😍⁣
Ingredients:⁣
2 cups butternut squash, cubed⁣
1 tbsp olive oil⁣
1 1/2 cup kidney beans, canned, drained, and rinsed⁣
1/2 cup sweet onion, chopped⁣
1/2 cup corn kernels⁣
1 cup fresh cilantro, chopped⁣
1/2 cup pumpkin seeds⁣
3 limes, juiced⁣
1/4 cup olive oil⁣
1/4 tsp chili powder⁣
1/4 tsp ground cumin⁣
Salt, to taste⁣
Black pepper, to taste⁣
Instructions:⁣
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).⁣
2️⃣ Toss butternut squash with 1 tbsp olive oil, salt, and pepper. Roast 20-25 minutes until tender and slightly caramelized.⁣
3️⃣ In a large bowl, combine roasted squash, kidney beans, corn, onion, cilantro, and pumpkin seeds.⁣
4️⃣ Whisk together lime juice, 1/4 cup olive oil, chili powder, and cumin.⁣
5️⃣ Pour dressing over salad and toss until everything is coated. Adjust salt and pepper to taste and serve warm or chilled.⁣

1️⃣ Swap Deli Meat with Cooked Chicken or Turkey⁣
Processed meats like deli ham, salami, or bacon, though a quick source of protein, are often high in preservatives like nitrates and sorbates. These additives can disrupt the gut microbiome and lead to inflammation, which can worsen fatigue and lead to weight gain.⁣

2️⃣ Swap HFC with Natural Sweetness in Fruit⁣
The problem is that HFCS is absorbed very quickly and can send your blood sugar on a roller coaster, often leaving you tired and craving more. By contrast, the sugars in whole fruit come with fiber, which slows down digestion and keeps you satisfied longer.⁣
⁣
3️⃣ Swap White Rice with Quinoa ⁣
White rice is a staple food in many cuisines, but it’s not the best option for lasting energy. Without much fiber, white rice breaks down quickly in the digestive tract. This sends your blood sugar soaring, leaving you tired and hungry again way too soon. When assembling a curry or stir-fry, consider a bed of brown rice or quinoa instead for more fiber.⁣

💡 Keep in mind. . . It starts with a lifestyle mentality. Managing obesity starts with building a lifestyle around real, nutrient-dense foods. Whereas many highly processed foods can sap your energy, a variety of better-for-you substitutions will boost your energy to more optimal levels.⁣

🥚 Got leftover Easter eggs? Don’t let them go to waste! ⁣

Eggs are a wonderfully supportive food for lipedema. They’re packed with high-quality protein to support muscle and energy, contain choline, which helps with fat metabolism and liver function, and provide vitamins like B12 and D to support overall cellular health.⁣
⁣
Here are 3 simple and healthy ways to use them up:⁣
1️⃣ Classic Egg Salad⁣
Ingredients:⁣
4 boiled eggs, chopped⁣
2 tbsp Greek yogurt (or avocado for extra creaminess)⁣
1 tsp Dijon mustard⁣
Salt, pepper, paprika to taste⁣
Optional: chopped celery, green onions, or fresh herbs⁣
👩‍🍳Instructions: Mash eggs slightly in a bowl. Mix in yogurt and mustard. Stir in veggies or herbs. Serve on whole-grain bread, lettuce wraps, or with crackers.⁣
2️⃣ Protein-Packed Salad Boost⁣
Ingredients:⁣
2-3 boiled eggs, sliced⁣
Mixed greens (spinach, arugula, kale)⁣
Cherry tomatoes, cucumber, bell peppers⁣
1-2 tsp olive oil + balsamic vinegar⁣
Optional: roasted chickpeas or sunflower seeds⁣
👩‍🍳Instructions:⁣
Toss greens and veggies in olive oil and vinegar. Top with sliced eggs and seeds for crunch. Season with salt and pepper.⁣
3️⃣ Avocado Deviled Eggs⁣
Ingredients:⁣
6 boiled eggs, peeled⁣
1 ripe avocado⁣
1 tsp lime or lemon juice⁣
1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)⁣
Salt and pepper to taste⁣
Paprika or chili flakes for garnish⁣
Optional: chopped chives or cilantro⁣
👩‍🍳Instructions: Slice the boiled eggs in half and scoop out the yolks into a small bowl.⁣
Mash the yolks with avocado, lime juice, mustard, salt, and pepper until creamy.⁣
Spoon or pipe the avocado mixture back into the egg whites. Sprinkle with paprika or chili flakes and top with fresh herbs if you like. Chill 10-15 minutes and enjoy!⁣

One of the most common things I see?
Women come to me after cutting out every high-histamine food possible… and they’re still struggling.
At that point, it’s not about the food anymore.
Histamine isn’t just coming from what you eat—your body can overproduce and over-release it internally.
Bile acids play a key role. Certain bile acids can activate mast cells to release histamine (even at low levels) and increase the enzyme (HDC) that produces histamine.
So instead of just reacting to food, your body is:
⬆️ releasing more histamine
⬆️ making more histamine
If bile flow is sluggish or bile acids build up (often with gut or liver dysfunction), this process gets amplified.
For many women with lipedema, this matters.
What looks like “histamine intolerance” may actually be:
➡️ a bile flow issue
➡️ a liver signaling issue
➡️ a gut-liver connection problem
This is why food elimination alone doesn’t solve it. 🤯
Here’s the shift:
Supporting bile flow is often more effective—and more sustainable—than continuing to restrict foods.
Less restriction. More root cause.

For women with lipedema, it’s essential to look at the whole picture: nutrition, gut health, and how your body functions as a system.
Because lipedema isn’t managed with one factor—and one-size-fits-all approaches don’t work.

Spring produce makes this easier than you think 🌸 Here are 3 of my favorite spring veggies + simple ways to use them:⁣

🌿 **Asparagus**⁣
A gentle, natural way to support fluid balance. It acts as a mild diuretic, helping reduce that puffy, tight feeling in your legs. It also supports kidney function and provides compounds like glutathione to help your body detox more efficiently. If you tend to hold onto fluid, this is a great one to add regularly.⁣
⁣
🥬 **Arugula**⁣
That peppery, slightly bitter taste? That’s exactly what your body needs. Bitter greens help stimulate bile flow, supporting your liver—which plays a huge role in processing hormones (especially estrogen). Since lipedema is hormonally driven, this matters more than most people realize. Plus, it’s rich in antioxidants that help calm inflammation.⁣

🌱 **Sweet Peas**⁣
An underrated option! They provide fiber and plant-based protein to help stabilize blood sugar. Stable blood sugar = fewer insulin spikes (which can drive fat storage). They also support gut health and your immune system—both closely tied to inflammation.⁣
⁣
None of this is about being perfect. It’s about giving your body the support it’s been asking for. Progress over perfection 💛⁣

Easy ways to add these this week:⁣
✅ Roasted asparagus as a side⁣
✅ Arugula in a salad or wrap⁣
✅ Swap in peas instead of a processed side⁣

🍎 Passover Seder Baked Apples (Simple & Naturally Sweet)⁣
⁣
This warm dessert is perfect for the Seder table. It’s simple, naturally sweet, and made with whole ingredients. As a bonus, apples contain quercetin, a compound that may help stabilize mast cells and support histamine balance. 🙌⁣
⁣
Ingredients (Serves 4)⁣
⁣
4 large apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala work well)⁣
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pecans⁣
1 teaspoon cinnamon⁣
1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey (optional)⁣
1 tablespoon olive oil or melted coconut oil⁣
½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)⁣
Pinch of sea salt⁣
¼ cup water (for baking dish)⁣
⁣
👩‍🍳 Instructions⁣
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).⁣
Core the apples, leaving the bottom intact so the filling stays inside.⁣
Place apples in a small baking dish.⁣
In a bowl, mix nuts, cinnamon, maple syrup, oil, vanilla, and salt.⁣
Spoon the mixture into the center of each apple.⁣
Pour ¼ cup water into the baking dish to prevent sticking.⁣
