🧊🔥 We hear a lot about cold therapy for lipedema — and yes, cold has its place. But gentle heat might help too.

With lipedema or lymphedema, the right kind of warmth can be incredibly supportive. I noticed this myself when I added gentle heat (a heat bag + infrared light) to my manual lymphatic drainage sessions. My fascia softened more easily, fluid moved better, and my body felt deeply relaxed.

Now I also do a warm (not hot) bath most nights. Just enough warmth to tell my nervous system, “You’re safe. You can settle.”

Why this matters:
Lipedema tissue is often in a guarded state due to inflammation, fluid congestion, sluggish microcirculation, and stress. Gentle heat can:
✅ Help fascia glide
✅ Improve circulation
✅ Support lymph flow
✅ Calm the nervous system

This isn’t intense heat — and it’s not a stand-alone fix. Nutrition still matters (protein, hydration, anti-inflammatory support, blood sugar balance).

Healing isn’t about extremes. It’s about giving your body the right signals so it can shift from protection to flow.

As a woman living with lipedema, running a nutrition practice, juggling a full life, and managing my own high expectations, there are a lot of moments that I catch myself thinking things like…⁣

You’re not good enough. ⁣
You’re not working hard enough. ⁣
You’re too much, too loud, too emotional, too everything. ⁣
⁣
But are these really true? And are they helpful? Are they kind? 🤔⁣

❌ The answer is almost always no. ⁣

When these thoughts pop up in my head, the most recent strategy I’ve been using to combat them is to visualize my younger self. Baby Bonnie. 👶⁣

Would I speak to her this way? Would I dim her light, shut her down, and crush her charisma? ⁣
⁣
Of course not. 💔⁣
⁣

🚨 MTHFR has become one of the most misunderstood genetic terms on the internet.⁣

Let’s clear something up.⁣
⁣
❌ Having an MTHFR variant does NOT mean you’re broken.⁣
❌ It does NOT mean you need extreme protocols.⁣
❌And it definitely does NOT mean it “caused” your lipedema.⁣
⁣
What it can mean is this:⁣
⁣
💡 Your body may process folate a little differently.⁣
💡 You may recycle homocysteine less efficiently.⁣
💡 You may need different nutritional inputs to support methylation, estrogen metabolism, and inflammatory balance.⁣
⁣
Lipedema is hormonally driven and deeply connected to inflammation, vascular health, and metabolic pathways. MTHFR can influence those pathways. Not as a cause. But as a contributor to the bigger picture.⁣

If you’re navigating lipedema, you’ve probably heard of **MTHFR**. Here’s the quick breakdown 👇

MTHFR is an enzyme that helps convert folate (B9) into its active form so your body can support:
✨ Methylation (detox, hormone metabolism, cell repair)
✨ Homocysteine balance
✨ Energy, mood & vascular health

If it runs slower, it doesn’t mean you’re “broken” — it just means your body may need different support.

While MTHFR does **not** cause lipedema, it can influence:
• Estrogen metabolism
• Inflammation
• Lymphatic & vascular health

The two key variants:
🧬 C677T – more tied to homocysteine
🧬 A1298C – more tied to inflammation & neurotransmitters
